Benjamin Rush
Benjamin Rush (January 4, 1746 – April 19, 1813) is regarded as the father of the temperance movement. In 1784 he wrote a treatise named “An Inquiry into the Effects of Ardent Spirit.” It asserted the characteristics of the chronic or slow drunkenness. In other words, he asserted that drinking is bad for the physical and physiological health.
Born, in Pennsylvania, Rush was a physician, writer, educator, and a humanitarian. Being one of the Founding Fathers, Rush attended the Continental Congress and signed the Declaration of Independence. He strongly disproved George Washington be the Commander in Chief of the Continental Army. He was also against slavery and practiced medical studies in the University of Pennsylvania. Today, he is mostly known as the guy that soothed the relationship between Jefferson and Adams; he was the guy that encouraged the two to continue to write to each other.

Lyman Beecher
Lyman Beecher (October 12, 1775 – January 10, 1863) was one of the most prominent figures in the creation of the American Temperance Society, which included over 1.5 million members over twelve years from 1826-1838. Being a Presbyterian minister, he was credited as one of the leaders in the Second Great Awakening. He was also the father of 13 children, many of which were very influential as well. An example is Harriet Beecher Stowe.

Lincoln is presently existent almost everywhere in the United States, ranging from Mount Rushmore to the American 5 dollar bill.
